Bareroot Barn

What is "Bareroot"?

Trees, shrubs and small fruits are normally dug from the growing fields in the fall.  The dirt is removed from the roots and then the plants are placed into a controlled environment of cool temperatures and high humidity.   In the spring these plants are taken out of cold storage in their dormant (leafless) state.   They arrive at the nursery with "no pot" and "no dirt".   That's "bareroot"!
What are the benefits of planting 'bareroot'?
  • Economical - because they have no pot or no dirt, we can sell them at a reduced price.
  • Earth-friendly - because there is no pot, no plastic!
  • Easy to carry and easy to plant, with no heavy pot filled with soil for you to carry.
  • They can be planted as soon as the ground thaws because of their dormant state.  Get a head start on spring!
  • Choose from hardy, Minnesota stock
  • We open at 9am - 6pm  Mon-Sat. and 10am-5pm Sundays in April
